Tax On Tax Feature

A Tax on Tax feature typically refers to a scenario where one tax is calculated on top of another tax, rather than just on the base price.

Set up Tax On Tax

To set up Tax On Tax, complete the following steps:

  1. On the top right-hand side of the screen, click the second option, Tax On Tax.

  2. Complete the Set Tax On Tax fields and Save. An example is shown below.

Apply Tax On Tax to an applicable tax

To apply Tax On Tax to an applicable tax, complete the following steps:

  1. Create the applicable taxes as shown in the example below.

  2. Then click the Taxable surcharge checkbox to enable the tax on tax, where applicable, as shown below.

Example:

In the UAE, there are 3 types of applicable taxes on the room rate:

  1. Municipality Tax @ 10%

  2. Service Charge @ 10%

  3. VAT @ 5%

VAT tax also applies to the Service Charge. In this case, there is tax on top of the Service Charge tax (Tax on Tax).

On the Booking Engine

Guest details page: Price breakdown and Tax information will display as per the screenshot below:

Payment details page: Click the Price breakdown to view the price breakdown and tax info. Hover over the tax icon to view tax information. It will be displayed as per the screenshot below:

If multiple rooms are booked, each room will have a tax breakdown.

On CRS

When making a booking via CRS, the taxes are indicated. It will be displayed as per the screenshot below:

Booking details

Advanced Booking search: Click total taxes to view tax information. It will be displayed as per the screenshot below.

Stay view: Click the tax rate to view tax info. It will be displayed as per the screenshot below:

Additional info:

  1. Used in the UAE market.

  2. Applies to MAX Booking engine, CRS, and App bookings.

  3. To edit the tax amount, remove the existing tax on tax and set up.
