Drip Feed vs Stop Sell limit feature on STAAH

Drip Feed controls how inventory is released, while Stop Sell Limit controls when selling stops based on low availability.

Drip Feed

  • Drip Feed controls how inventory is released to OTAs over time instead of exposing the full allotment at once.

  • Inventory is gradually “dripped” in defined quantities or patterns, helping manage demand pacing.

  • Used to avoid overselling early, maintain availability closer to arrival dates, and optimise ADR.

  • Helps properties keep rooms back for high-value bookings or late demand.

  • Particularly useful during high-demand periods, events, or when booking windows are long.

  • Can be applied per room type, rate plan, and date range, depending on configuration.

Stop Sell Limit

  • Stop Sell Limit defines a threshold of remaining rooms at which sales will automatically close.

  • Once available inventory drops to the defined limit, STAAH stops selling that room type on connected channels.

  • Used as a protection mechanism to prevent last rooms from being sold online.

  • Helps retain inventory for walk-ins, corporate bookings, or direct reservations.

  • Unlike Stop Sell (manual), this works dynamically based on availability levels.

  • Applied per room type and date, ensuring tighter inventory control.

Drip Feed

Stop Sell Limit

Purpose

Controls cutoff threshold for selling

Behaviour

Gradual inventory exposure

Stops selling when limit is reached

Use Case

Revenue optimisation and demand pacing

Inventory protection for last rooms

Impact

Delays full availability on channels

Closes availability when low stock

Automation

Time or quantity based release

Availability threshold based trigger

Practical Example

  • Total rooms: 20

  • Drip Feed configured: release 5 rooms initially, then increase over time

  • Stop Sell Limit set: 3 rooms

Flow:

  • Only 5 rooms show initially due to Drip Feed

  • Inventory increases gradually as per drip settings

  • When remaining availability hits 3 rooms, Stop Sell Limit triggers and closes sales on OTAs

Summary

  • Drip Feed = “How much inventory is released and when”

  • Stop Sell Limit = “When to stop selling based on remaining inventory”

Both features work together to maximise revenue while maintaining control over availability.
